After their bye week, the San Francisco 49ers returned to the building with players sharing a packed mix of Halloween costumes, trips back to college stops, and off-field volunteer events.
The San Francisco 49ers used their bye week to step away from game prep while staying engaged with team traditions and local connections. According to the team, players returned to the building after the break, having filled the downtime with Halloween-themed fun, college homecomings, and community service.
The bye week kickoff was the team’s annual Halloween party, hosted by quarterback Brock Purdy and his wife, Jenna Purdy. Players and their partners dressed as characters from movies and TV, including Purdy as Sulley from “Monsters, Inc.” and Nick Bosa and his girlfriend, Ella Ailiff, as Crimson Chin and Cleft the Boy Chin Wonder from “The Fairly OddParents.”
Several 49ers leaned into character pair costumes, including Brayden Willis and Tatyanah Bass as Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy from “SpongeBob SquarePants,” and Colton McKivitz and Abby McKivitz as brothers from “Step Brothers.” Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and Tori Moraga dressed in an “Austin Powers” theme, with Mac Jones also joining the look as Austin Powers and George Kittle as Dr. Evil.
The team also highlighted “homecomings” during the break. Safety Malik Mustapha returned to Wake Forest, where he was the “Open the Gate” honoree and rode onto the field on the Demon Deacon mascot’s motorcycle before joining ACC Network analysts at the desk. Tight end George Kittle and his wife, Claire, made a trip back to Iowa City ahead of the University of Iowa’s game against Northwestern, with Kittle serving as an honorary captain and joining the Hawkeyes in the locker room.
Community work remained part of the routine. Kittle and his wife visited young patients at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital as part of a nine-year tradition the team described as the “Hawkeye Wave,” and Kittle also volunteered at the site during the bye week video described by the team. Safety Ji’Ayir Brown supported youth programming through the Ji’Ayir Brown Foundation, including a partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build and deliver 20 beds for children in need.
In additional off-field activity, the team pointed to Christian McCaffrey appearing to serve as an officiant at a wedding during the bye week, and to Fred Warner and Trent Williams attending Warriors games in San Francisco. With the break over, the 49ers returned to their season routine with the team’s mix of traditions and service framed as a way to spend time away while staying connected.
