New England lists star receiver A.J. Brown (ankle/knee) and second-year back TreVeyon Henderson (illness) as questionable, shaping a thin wideout and backfield group ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Dolphins.
The Patriots’ injury picture for Week 8 centers on two skill players: WR A.J. Brown and RB TreVeyon Henderson. Both are officially tagged as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins in Miami, with Brown’s status tied to an ankle injury that has also flared in the knee area, and Henderson’s status tied to an illness that sidelined him during the final two practices this week.
Brown’s week trended downward as the Patriots moved through practice. After being limited earlier in the week following his return from a high-ankle sprain, he did not participate on Thursday or Friday. Head coach Mike Vrabel said Brown “wasn't able to finish practice” on Wednesday and that the team would continue treating him to see where he is coming out of Saturday.
Brown’s availability matters because New England entered the week with limited wide receiver depth. The Patriots have multiple wideouts already on injured reserve, and the team’s active group for Week 8 was described as four wide receivers: DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams, Efton Chism III, and Brown. If Brown cannot play, the Patriots would be expected to lean more heavily on their active pass-catchers, including tight ends Hunter Henry and Eli Raridon, and possibly practice-squad receivers.
On the backfield side, Henderson also missed the final two practices with illness and remains in play for Sunday. The Patriots’ active running backs described for the week include Rhamondre Stevenson and Corey Kiner as the healthy options, with Lan Larison positioned as a potential practice-squad elevation for depth insurance if needed.
Beyond the two question marks, New England’s report points to incremental defensive and offensive stability. CB Carlton Davis III (neck) is listed as questionable but is trending toward playing after full participation across all three practices this week, and the Patriots reported that their secondary is expected to be whole for the first time since Week 3. On the offensive line, the team continued managing Morgan Moses’ foot injury while also tracking C/G Ben Brown’s return path after a knee injury that cost him time earlier in the season.
Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium.
