Apple TV sets premiere for Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham drama ‘Nocturne’ on Oct. 30

Apple TV has set a fall premiere date for its new drama series Nocturne, starring Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham, releasing the show on Friday, October 30. Deadline, citing Apple’s announcement, said the series was previously known as Lazarus and has now been retitled ahead of its debut.

Nocturne is described as a drama adaptation drawn from Lars Kepler’s novels Lazarus and The Sandman. The series is presented as a 10-episode production developed for television, with Deadline reporting that it comes from writer and executive producer Rowan Joffe.

Deadline also reported that John Hlavin developed the series for television and will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer for Nocturne. The project’s cast is anchored by Schreiber, Beetz, and Graham, with additional performers announced in earlier casting updates related to the same Lars Kepler adaptation.

In casting coverage from June 2025, Deadline reported that Rory Culkin joined the still-untitled Lars Kepler-based series as a series regular. That earlier report said Culkin would join previously announced cast members including Schreiber, Beetz, Graham, and Bill Camp, expanding the ensemble for the Apple production tied to the crime novels.

Another Deadline casting update in July 2025 reported that Chrissy Metz has joined the series based on Lars Kepler’s crime books. Metz’s addition came after earlier announcements of the show’s lead performers, underscoring how the project’s lineup has been assembled over time ahead of its fall release.

With the premiere date now set, Apple TV+ viewers will be able to see how the adaptation handles the source material credited to the two Lars Kepler novels. The series’ move from the working title Lazarus to Nocturne, along with the scheduled October 30 premiere, marks a new phase for the production’s rollout and marketing timetable.

The next publicly scheduled step for the series will be its release window beginning Friday, October 30, followed by any additional Apple TV+ promotion and episode-by-episode availability details, which are not included in the initial premiere-date announcement.

Why It Matters

  • Apple TV+ has moved Nocturne into a specific release calendar slot, which can affect viewer planning and streaming competition for the fall window starting October 30.
  • The production’s 10-episode format and its adaptation of well-known Lars Kepler novels can draw audience interest from established crime fiction readers.
  • The show’s assembled cast, including Schreiber, Beetz, Graham, and later additions such as Culkin and Metz, reflects an ensemble-driven strategy for a streaming drama.
  • The shift from the working title Lazarus to Nocturne indicates how the project is positioning itself for marketing and brand identity ahead of its debut.
