August 2026 update: Fort McCoy $55.76 million Collective Training Officers Quarters Project nearly 80 percent complete, remains ahead of schedule

Construction of Fort McCoy’s $55.76 million Collective Training Officers Quarters Project is nearly 80 percent complete and continues to move ahead of schedule, according to the latest weekly project update from Ken Green of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

As of Aug. 14, the project was 79 percent complete compared with 51 percent scheduled completion, putting construction 28 percentage points ahead of schedule. The project maintains a projected early completion date of June 15, 2027, while the current contract completion date is Dec. 31, 2027.

The project is part of Fort McCoy’s continuing effort to modernize its infrastructure and ensure the installation is prepared to support military training and readiness requirements well into the future.

At the West building, crews are continuing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) trim-out, sheetrock finishing, painting, tile installation in latrines, verification work and equipment startups. At the East building, work continues on interior framing, MEP rough-ins, masonry, sheetrock installation and finishing, sound-batt installation, elevators, canopies, and concrete work.

Site work also continues, including minor grading around the project area. The latest update shows 86 requests for information have been answered, while several requests for proposal and design-related items remain in various stages of processing.

The two new officers quarters buildings are part of Fort McCoy's broader 1600 block modernization effort. The investment is intended to provide modern facilities that can support the Soldiers, units and organizations that use Fort McCoy for training, exercises, mobilization and other readiness missions.

Fort McCoy’s infrastructure modernization extends beyond individual construction projects. Through continued investment in facilities, utilities, training infrastructure, and quality-of-life improvements, the installation is working to ensure its physical infrastructure keeps pace with the Army's evolving requirements.

Those investments also have an impact beyond the installation’s boundaries as well, statistics show. Fort McCoy generated an estimated $1.6 billion in total economic impact during fiscal year 2024, including more than $398 million in workforce payroll, operating costs and other expenditures. Military construction accounted for approximately $92.6 million of the installation’s fiscal year 2024 economic activity.

Construction projects such as this officers quarters project contribute to that broader economic activity by supporting construction companies, skilled trades, suppliers, equipment providers and other businesses throughout the region, studies show.

For Fort McCoy, modernization is therefore a long-term investment in both military readiness and regional economic strength. New infrastructure helps the installation continue serving as a premier Total Force training center, while the construction and operation of that infrastructure generate millions of dollars in economic activity for surrounding communities.

With construction now nearly 80 percent complete, the Collective Training Officers Quarters project is possibly another visible example of Fort McCoy’s continuing commitment to building and modernizing for the future.
