Weiss is a finalist for National League Manager of the Year, while Sale is among the finalists for the NL Cy Young Award, with winners set for announcement in early November.
The Baseball Writers’ Association of America has named Braves manager Walt Weiss and right-hander Chris Sale as finalists for major 2026 season awards, continuing a late-year push for recognition on both the managerial and pitching fronts.
Weiss is one of three finalists for the National League Manager of the Year Award, joined by Brewers manager Pat Murphy and Phillies manager Don Mattingly. The award winner will be announced Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. ET on MLB Network.
Sale is also a finalist, drawing a spot among three contenders for the National League Cy Young Award. He shares the ballot with Brewers starter Jacob Misiorowski and Phillies right-hander Cristopher Sánchez, and the winner will be announced Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. ET on MLB Network.
In Atlanta, the Weiss nomination is tied to a season in which the Braves managed notable adversity early on, including spring injuries to multiple starting pitchers and a lineup impacted by long absences. The Braves still captured the National League East title, their seventh in nine seasons.
Sale’s Cy Young finalist case is supported by his 2026 results at the top of the NL pitching leaderboard, including a 2.16 ERA and 200 strikeouts, ranking second and tying for fourth, respectively, among National League pitchers.
