Bills bring Tre’Davious White back to the practice squad, releasing A.J. Woods
Buffalo re-adds a familiar face in Tre’Davious White for a third stint, while making a corresponding roster move by releasing cornerback A.J. Woods.
The Buffalo Bills signed cornerback Tre’Davious White to their practice squad on Monday, marking his third stint with the team and his ninth season with Buffalo in total across his time with the organization.
The move also required a release, as the Bills parted ways with cornerback A.J. Woods to create room for White on the practice-squad group.
White has previously played key defensive roles for Buffalo during earlier seasons, including a 2019 campaign in which he recorded six interceptions and 17 passes defensed and earned first-team All-Pro recognition.
According to the Bills, White’s production in Buffalo totals 19 interceptions and 78 passes defensed in a Bills uniform, and he has been described by the team as an important locker-room presence as well as on-field experience for a young cornerback room.
Before returning to Buffalo in 2025, White split the 2024 season playing for the Los Angeles Rams and the Baltimore Ravens, bringing a wider NFL perspective back to his familiar setting in Western New York.
Why It Matters
- The transaction adds a veteran cornerback presence to Buffalo’s practice squad as the Bills manage depth at the position.
- White’s history with the franchise makes the move a continuity play for a younger cornerback group, according to the Bills.
- Releasing A.J. Woods shifts the Bills’ bottom-of-roster evaluation pipeline and how the team balances development with experience.
- With White’s career production and prior All-Pro recognition, the practice-squad role keeps him close to the active roster should a need arise.
