Four days after winning their first World Series championship, Milwaukee learned it will add two more pieces of hardware to the trophy case as Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio were named 2026 National League Gold Glove Award winners.
Milwaukee’s championship celebration continued into Sunday night when the team received a second defensive distinction. Four days after winning its first World Series title, the Brewers were informed that Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio had been selected as 2026 National League Gold Glove Award winners.
Turang earned Gold Glove recognition for second base for the second time in his career and became the only Brewer to win at the position since the franchise began in 1969. The other Brewers with multiple Gold Gloves were Cecil Cooper (1979-80 at first base) and George Scott (1972-76, also at first base).
The case for Turang’s award was built on season-long impact. Milwaukee’s release credited him with finishing second in Major League Baseball in defensive runs saved (23), with 19 outs above average tied for fourth among all second basemen. The team also noted his defensive value as first among infielders in defensive runs saved.
Chourio was named a Gold Glove winner for left field for the first time in his career, giving Milwaukee a fifth Gold Glove-winning outfielder in franchise history. The Brewers’ release placed him among the club’s prior outfield winners: Sal Frelick (2024), Lorenzo Cain (2019), Carlos Gómez (2013), and Sixto Lezcano (1979).
In Milwaukee’s assessment, Chourio’s 2026 defense showed a clear step forward. The team said he went error-free, led all National League left fielders in defensive runs saved (13), and tied with Cody Bellinger for the lead in fielding run value (+8). The Brewers also pointed to his eight outfield assists as a career high and an arm value of +3, citing Baseball Savant.
