Christian Yelich, Brice Turang and manager Pat Murphy appeared on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update as the show’s “Drunk Uncle” character returned to the desk after being unconvinced that a team named for beermaking could win the World Series.
Milwaukee Brewers World Series champions Christian Yelich, Brice Turang and manager Pat Murphy made a group cameo on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update on Saturday, appearing in New York as the show greeted the latest champions.
The segment centered on the recurring “Drunk Uncle” character, whose skepticism about the Brewers’ name and the idea that they could win the World Series was addressed during the bit.
The appearance also included a throwback reference to Yelich’s earlier connection to SNL during his time with the Miami Marlins, according to the Brewers’ MLB release about the segment.
The same MLB package added a history angle for Milwaukee, noting that Brewers radio broadcaster Bob Uecker previously hosted an SNL episode in 1984.
