The Brewers’ second baseman earned his second Rawlings Gold Glove after a season that ranked among the best in baseball at his position.
Brice Turang added another defensive milestone to his résumé on Sunday, winning his second career Rawlings Gold Glove Award as the National League’s top second baseman. It marked the second straight Gold Glove for Milwaukee at the position after his 2024 win, and it extended a rare run of Brewers infield recognition since the team moved to the NL in 1998.
Turang’s case was built on measurable defensive impact. In 2026, he totaled 23 Defensive Runs Saved, which ranked second in MLB among second basemen behind Cardinals rookie JJ Wetherholt (25). He also posted 17 Outs Above Average, second among NL second basemen behind Wetherholt’s 25.
The 2026 Gold Glove class also reflected a league-wide trend toward first-time winners. MLB reported that nine players earned their first Gold Gloves, and that the D-backs and Red Sox tied for the most honorees on a single club with three each.
Across the rest of the NL infield, Arizona’s Geraldo Perdomo took home the shortstop honor after leading all of baseball with innings played at the position and ranking in the 98th percentile with 16 Outs Above Average. Other notable defensive winners included Matt Olson at first base and Gabriel Moreno at catcher.
For the Brewers organization, Turang’s second award underlined how consistent his role has been on the dirt. MLB noted that he remains the only Brewers second baseman to win a Gold Glove, with the other coming in 2024. In a year where several teams produced multiple first-time winners, Milwaukee’s second-base Gold Glove came from an established defender rather than a one-time breakout.
