Browns activate timeline for RB Dylan Sampson, designating him for return
Cleveland has moved Dylan Sampson to the designated-for-return window after the knee injury that sidelined him in the season opener.
The Cleveland Browns announced that running back Dylan Sampson has been designated for return from injured reserve and is eligible to return to practice. The move sets up a possible on-field return once the team completes the required steps in the league’s injured-reserve timeline.
Sampson was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 15 after sustaining a knee injury during Cleveland’s season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 13.
The Browns selected Sampson in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He has appeared in 16 career games, recording 175 rushing yards on 65 attempts and adding 33 receptions for 271 yards with two touchdowns.
Why It Matters
- The designation for return gives Cleveland a formal window to ramp Sampson back into team practices.
- Sampson’s return can affect the Browns’ depth and rotation in the running back room, depending on how quickly he progresses after returning to practice.
- Because the team’s decision to activate him comes after practice participation, the next roster and availability updates will likely hinge on his weekly status.
