The Royals catcher is ranked No. 7 in MLB Pipeline’s annual assessment of which rookies are likely to generate the most future career value, using graduation rules and age-based projection.
MLB Pipeline’s annual long-term rookie rankings, which measure the career value of season’s “graduated” rookies, place Royals catcher Carter Jensen at No. 7 among 2026’s top 26 prospects.
In MLB Pipeline’s framework, Jensen is included because only players who have surpassed rookie/prospect status thresholds are eligible, using criteria tied to at-bats, innings, and active-service time.
Jensen’s case, according to MLB Pipeline, is built around a rare early power profile and strong receiving value, describing him as one of the very few rookies to combine at least 27 home runs with an OPS+ of 120 or better.
The list also anchors his ranking with a comparative age edge, noting Jensen is younger than all players in its historical group except Earl Williams, and that his defense behind the plate is characterized as better than those same historical peers.
MLB Pipeline’s top of the rankings is Konnor Griffin at No. 1 and Kevin McGonigle at No. 2, with Jensen positioned as the next catcher in the broader group of players it projects as likely to accrue the most value as their careers develop.
