A 24-9 loss to the Rams on Sunday kept the Chargers winless and extended a scoring drought driven by turnovers and an offense that has not found the end zone in nine straight quarters.
The Chargers dropped to 0-7 after a 24-9 road loss to the Rams, remaining the only winless team in the NFL. In postgame comments, Justin Herbert described the situation as an “unfortunate truth” and said the offense has not been good enough.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh framed the start of the season as unfamiliar territory for the group, but emphasized the team can change it through work and preparation. He pointed to a recurring pattern, with an offense that has struggled to score consistently and a defense that has been asked to stay effective for too long.
Offensively, Los Angeles has managed very little recent production. The Chargers recorded only three field goals in Week 8 and have not scored a touchdown since the third quarter of Week 5, totaling 15 points over the past two games.
Turnovers were a specific problem again. Herbert threw two interceptions against the Rams, and Harbaugh said those giveaways put the defense in difficult situations by shortening the opponent’s drives.
Herbert’s interception count has become a season-long trend. The quarterback has thrown an interception in every game this season and has a league-high 10 interceptions as of Week 8.
With the Chargers back at home next week, Harbaugh said there is “no quit” and an opportunity to reset and respond. Teammates echoed that message, with Joe Alt and Ladd McConkey emphasizing the need to correct mistakes and keep charging toward the next chance to win.
