Chevron has agreed to a 20-year natural gas supply deal intended to underpin a Microsoft artificial intelligence data center expansion in West Texas, according to a report published Wednesday.

Under the arrangement, the data center project is set to be developed in Reeves County, where the gas would come from the Permian Basin. The project is described as part of Microsoft’s broader effort to expand capacity for AI workloads, which require large amounts of electricity and supporting infrastructure.
