Chiefs name Sergeant Nicholas Tincher as weekly “Tribute to the Troops” honoree

Kansas native Nicholas Tincher will be recognized during the Chiefs’ home game against the Los Angeles Chargers as part of Arrowhead Stadium’s ongoing salute to service members.

The Kansas City Chiefs will recognize U.S. Army Reserves Sergeant Nicholas Tincher as this week’s “Tribute to the Troops” honoree, the team announced Monday.

Tincher, who is from Spring Hill, Kansas, will be honored during the Chiefs’ home game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs described Tincher’s decision to join the military as rooted in family example, noting he first entered the service in 2012 after following his father and grandfather into uniform.

In the team’s account, Tincher has worked as a Horizontal Construction Engineer, operating heavy equipment, and as a sergeant has also led a platoon, including directing drill responsibilities and supporting the wellbeing of fellow soldiers.

The Chiefs also tied Tincher’s recognition to community service, saying he and his platoon helped improve a small town in Minnesota by supporting construction work for a planned park, including preparing areas for baseball fields and parking lots.

Tincher, a lifelong Chiefs fan, said the matchup announcement came as a surprise to him and that he feels “honored” to be chosen for the tribute.

Why It Matters

  • Arrowhead Stadium’s “Tribute to the Troops” segment continues as a recurring in-stadium recognition tied to Chiefs home games.
  • The recognition underscores how the Chiefs frame their fan experience around community and national service, not only game-day performance.
  • For this specific weekend, the tribute adds a non-game operational moment centered on a local Kansas-area service member during a key AFC opponent matchup.
  • The honoree spotlight also reflects how the team selects individuals with military roles tied to leadership and practical support, according to the Chiefs’ description.
