Lincoln College Prep Heah head coach Julius Foster and Washington High School head coach Camron Smith are honored for their programs’ work ahead of the Week 9 spotlight.
The Kansas City Chiefs selected Lincoln College Prep Heah head coach Julius Foster and Washington High School head coach Camron Smith as their Week 9 High School Coaches of the Week for the 2026 season.
Foster’s Lincoln College Prep Tigers are headed to the second round of the MSHSAA Class 5 District 8 playoffs after a 15-14 win over the Winnetonka Griffins on Oct. 31, a result that included an 8-0 halftime deficit and a game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs noted Lincoln Prep will travel to face the Platte County Pirates on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
The Chiefs also highlighted Foster’s background in the Lincoln Prep program, including his return to the school in multiple coaching roles before taking over as head coach. The team’s week was also framed as part of an initiative intended to recognize coaches’ impact on players and communities, not only game results.
Smith’s Washington Wildcats were described as riding a three-game winning streak and sitting in first place in the Meadowlark District with a perfect 5-0 mark. The Chiefs pointed to an Oct. 30 42-35 win over Blue Valley Southwest that improved Washington to 7-2 overall, following an 83-7 victory over Harmon on Oct. 16 and a 50-0 shutout of Sumner Academy.
As part of the Coaches of the Week program, both Foster and Smith were named recipients of a $1,000 grant from the Hunt Family Foundation, along with a Kansas City Chiefs bucket hat, a certificate of recognition, and a custom game ball. Each coach also qualifies for the Eric Driskell Coach of the Year Award, selected after the high school regular season by a panel from the Missouri and Kansas Boards of the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association.
