Clark County Schools preparing for Aug. 12 return with summer hiring and first Pre-K for All classrooms
District officials say they have onboarded dozens of staff members across certified and support roles, expanded pre-kindergarten staffing, and kept family support services running over the summer ahead of the Aug. 12 school start.
Clark County Public Schools said it has been ramping up staffing during the summer as it prepares for the Aug. 12 return to school, including adding personnel for the district’s first Pre-K for All program in Kentucky.
In a July 7 update, district human resources officials said the hiring effort has included new employees across classrooms and key support functions. Dr. Lori Boyd, assistant director of human resources for Clark County Public Schools, said the district onboarded 31 certified staff and roughly 15 classified staff during recent weeks, with new workers covering roles such as bus drivers, custodians, instructional assistants and cooks.
Boyd said the district also has additional hires scheduled to begin work on July 22, adding that training and onboarding sessions have been a major focus during the summer. She described the sessions as covering district procedures, safety expectations and other preparation steps that new employees need before students return.
Officials said planning for the new Pre-K for All program has been a driving part of the summer work, including preparing classrooms and staffing in advance of the first day.
