THE APEX TIMES
Shelton’s big week at the plate helped define the Week 4 top-performer list, with leaders also emerging on both the hitting and pitching leaderboards across the circuit.
The Week 4 leaderboard in the Arizona Fall League is taking shape after each club reached at least 21 games, and one infielder’s production stood out most in the league’s most recent weekly awards roundup.
Colby Shelton, an infielder with Glendale (Chicago White Sox No. 23), topped the Week 4 hitting performers by driving in runs in bunches. Over the week, Shelton went 6-for-13 with 5 runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, 12 RBIs, and drew three walks.
The release credited a hot run to Shelton, including three straight four-RBI outings that concluded with a grand slam. It also noted that Shelton has shown a strong balance of discipline and contact, walking as often as he struck out during the fall so far (8 K/8 BB), after posting notably low strikeout rates at Florida during his junior season.
On the pitching side, Jarlin Susana of Salt River (Washington No. 4 / MLB No. 66) was highlighted for both results and velocity. In one start during the week, Susana logged five innings, allowed one hit and one run, walked two, and struck out five while topping out at 102.9 mph across 40-plus pitches above 100 mph.
The weekly roundup also pointed to early traction in other categories: White Sox prospect Jonathan Clark led the Fall League with a 0.55 WHIP through the first four weeks, and Welbyn Francisca (Cleveland No. 19) sat atop the circuit hitting leaderboard with a 1.237 OPS, tied with Teo Banks of the Nationals on hits (24).
Other standout performances during Week 4 included Kyle West’s three-homer output for Salt River, Isaiah Drake’s 7-for-10 stretch capped by a 102.4 mph, 403-foot homer, and Miguel Useche’s power surge after earning a Cubs contract following time in the Frontier League.
