Arizona’s award haul features catcher Gabriel Moreno, right fielder Corbin Carroll and shortstop Geraldo Perdomo as the Diamondbacks once again lead with defense under Torey Lovullo.
Arizona’s defense is getting its biggest formal recognition of the season, with three Diamondbacks players earning National League Rawlings Gold Glove Awards.
Catcher Gabriel Moreno won his second Gold Glove, adding another defensive award to his 2023 Gold Glove season. MLB’s release credited Moreno with leading NL catchers and ranking second in MLB with 14 defensive runs saved, while also leading all catchers with 2 defensive bWAR.
The Diamondbacks also took home the right field honor with Corbin Carroll, who previously won Gold Glove recognition for right field last year. MLB’s announcement said Carroll led MLB right fielders in outs above average (+10) and putouts (351), and he tied a fellow finalist, Seiya Suzuki, for the fewest fielding/non-throwing errors among MLB right fielders (one each).
Shortstop Geraldo Perdomo earned his first Gold Glove after leading NL shortstops with 362 assists, per the league release. The team also noted Perdomo’s run-prevention profile, tying for fourth among MLB shortstops with 16 OAA and ranking second to the Cardinals’ Masyn Winn among NL shortstops with eight defensive runs saved.
The three-win sweep marked only the second time in franchise history that Arizona had three Gold Glove winners in the same season, matching the 2019 group that included Zack Greinke, Nick Ahmed and David Peralta.
