Delta brings Fresca back to its onboard menu starting July 1, expands T-Mobile and Amex perks
The airline says the citrus soda will return to most flights this summer, while Delta also refreshes complimentary snacks and adds partner-linked benefits tied to T-Mobile SkyMiles enrollment and Delta SkyMiles American Express Card offers.
Delta Air Lines is returning one of its most requested onboard drinks to the beverage cart this summer. The airline said Fresca will officially rejoin Delta’s onboard beverage lineup starting July 1, giving travelers another option for a cold, citrus soda at cruising altitude.
In an announcement posted to its news site, Delta described Fresca as a “fan-favorite” and said it has been a popular request from customers. The company characterized the drink as a bright, citrus soda that can be enjoyed on its own and also works as a mixer, positioning it as part of the carrier’s seasonal effort to refresh the onboard experience.
Delta also said the Fresca return is part of an ongoing approach to adjusting onboard offerings based on customer feedback. The airline’s statement frames the decision as a response to demand for brands and products travelers want to see onboard.
Alongside the beverage update, Delta said it is refreshing its onboard snack selection this summer. Rold Gold Tiny Twists Original Pretzels are joining the complimentary snack lineup, with the company saying the new pretzels will replace SunChips Garden Salsa flavored whole grain snacks.
The change applies to Delta’s complimentary snack assortment, according to the airline, though Delta did not specify whether the swap is universal across all aircraft types or limited to certain routes or flight lengths. Travelers will see the new pretzels when the update rolls out with this summer’s service.
Delta is also expanding partner-linked perks tied to its loyalty program. Through Delta’s partnership with T-Mobile, the airline said T-Mobile customers can link their SkyMiles Membership to unlock a complimentary premium in-flight beverage on board.
Delta said T-Mobile customers can use their SkyMiles Membership to redeem one complimentary premium drink on any eligible flight, with redemption limited to one drink per flight. The airline added that customers must be 21 or older to link and redeem, and that eligible flights include flights longer than 350 miles within the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean where beverages are offered for purchase.
The airline’s terms also specify that enterprise or corporate T-Mobile accounts are not eligible for the benefit, and that a qualifying plan is required. Delta indicated that the full terms are available through the offer details, but did not provide additional qualifying-plan definitions in the announcement.
For another set of travelers, Delta said Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Members can claim a complimentary premium snack on select flights over 900 miles. The company stated the promotion runs from now through October 31, 2026, and offers one complimentary premium snack of the cardholder’s choice on qualifying flights while supplies last.
Delta listed the snack options as Pringles Grab & Go Original Crisps, Dot’s Original Seasoned Pretzels, and NERDS Gummy Clusters. Delta said redemption is handled through Delta Sync Wi-Fi, where cardholders can find an offer on the Delta Amex tab and follow prompts to redeem, adding that a physical card is required and that terms apply.
Delta’s announcement stops short of detailing the operational mechanics behind these changes, such as whether Fresca will be included by brand or by inventory allocations across the full fleet, or how often the beverage list may rotate outside of this summer window. Delta also did not quantify customer demand for Fresca or provide comparable performance metrics for the broader onboard lineup decisions.
Still, the move underscores a pattern in the industry where airlines use targeted onboard upgrades and loyalty-partner benefits to differentiate the travel experience. For Delta, the Fresca return is a straightforward menu change, while the T-Mobile and American Express perks link onboard items to enrollment and card-linked offers, effectively tying day-to-day travel to partner ecosystems.
Looking ahead, travelers may want to watch whether Delta’s refreshed complimentary snack rotation and partner beverage offers are extended beyond the stated summer rollout and what other brands Delta may add in future refresh cycles. If customer uptake is strong, airlines often use similar partner-driven promotions to test additional menu items and refine eligibility boundaries for different customer segments.
Why It Matters
- Onboard beverages and snacks remain a visible part of the customer experience, and Delta is using a brand-level return to respond directly to passenger preferences.
- Partner-linked perks, such as SkyMiles enrollment tied to T-Mobile, can drive loyalty engagement by adding value beyond ticketing.
- Rotating complimentary items and time-bound card promotions suggest Delta is testing what travelers will adopt, which may inform future merchandising decisions across routes and aircraft.
- Eligibility details (flight length, route regions, and account types) show how airlines tailor benefits to specific travel patterns rather than offering universal discounts.
