Delta unveils a reimagined Delta One experience, starting on transoceanic routes from Los Angeles
Delta’s “next era” of Delta One expands dining, hospitality and sleep options, with new culinary partners, a tighter wine program rotation, expanded pre-ordering, and fresh onboard amenity and tableware details.
Delta Air Lines is rolling out what it calls the “next era” of Delta One, its flagship long-haul cabin, with a full redesign aimed at upgrading dining, hospitality and rest. The airline said the changes represent its largest investment and most holistic Delta One overhaul in nearly 30 years, informed by two decades of customer experience work and supported by what Delta describes as its largest investment to date, building on more than $1 billion spent on fleet.
The refreshed Delta One experience will debut first on transoceanic routes departing Los Angeles International Airport this fall. Delta said the product will expand across its global network in early 2027. The company framed the redesign as a shift toward greater choice, including options that let premium passengers pre-select lighter meals and skip a morning meal service on long-haul flights to prioritize sleep.
On the culinary front, Delta said it partnered with its in-house culinary team plus Chef Simon Hulstone and Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson to shape the onboard dining and beverage program. Delta said Chef Hulstone, who led a restaurant with a two-decade Michelin star legacy, helped refine ingredients, preparation and service touchpoints, while additional chef advisors Norio Ueno and Jereme Leung will contribute regional credibility to the menu for consistent, recognizable dishes across different geographies.
Delta said customers will get more control over how they dine and rest during the flight. Expanded pre-select entrée ordering can be done up to 18 hours before departure, which Delta characterized as closer to takeoff and as the only such pre-order window offered by a U.S. carrier. For long-haul customers who prefer to sleep, Delta also said they can opt to skip the morning meal service and instead receive a coffee and croissant before landing.
Delta described several new dining and service moments, including a new “sip and settle” step built around a hot towel, warm nuts and a preferred beverage placed on the console before the first course. It also cited operational and flexibility changes such as a fresh cracked pepper service delivered during the first course and saucières that hold side sauces to complement main proteins. For meal presentation, Delta said it developed a new Delta One tableware collection, including tableware featuring the iconic Delta widget, designed through research, prototyping and onboard testing to support personalized tableside service.
The beverage program includes new and adjusted rotations. Delta said it will move from four wine rotations each year to two, aiming for greater consistency for customers and flight attendants. Delta also said that for October 2026 through September 2027, it curated a final selection of 13 wines from 11 wineries, selected with input from Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson and SkyMiles Members. The wine list will include Napa wines such as Silver Oak, which Delta said retails for over $200 per bottle, and Delta said it is expanding its Champagne Taittinger partnership to domestic Delta One flights.
On spirits and non-alcoholic options, Delta said it will serve Blanton’s single-barrel bourbon in Delta One, describing the brand as a limited-production label with global demand. Delta also said it is launching a curated cocktail and mocktail program designed to meet demand for non-alcoholic beverages, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions of Hugo Spritz and Paloma, with the offerings available on international routes in March 2027 and domestic routes in April 2027.
Sleep and amenity details are also part of the redesign. Delta said it will introduce a second Missoni cuddle pillow on both international and domestic Delta One routes, joining other sleep-focused items such as an enhanced mattress pad, memory foam cuddle pillow, slippers and an eye mask. It also announced a limited-edition Delta One Missoni amenity kit launching Nov. 3, featuring a Winter Elsewhere collection design and a first-of-its-kind wrist strap intended for use after landing, with items including exclusive Grown Alchemist skincare and a Missoni-branded comfort set. In addition, Delta said Bombas socks, built with Delta-inspired design details and made available on select routes as a complimentary offering, will be included as an exclusive comfort partnership drop of the season.
Delta did not provide financial figures or estimates tied to the cost or expected revenue impact of the Delta One redesign. The company also did not detail how the new experience will affect onboard staffing, seat pricing, or upgrade economics, beyond describing the rollout timing and specifying that more than 200 Delta flight attendants and team members shaped the product over more than 14 months of testing, with hundreds of submissions of feedback and multiple trial flights. What to watch next is how quickly the menu, tableware, beverage selections and sleep upgrades roll out beyond Los Angeles, and whether Delta uses early feedback to refine service steps and pre-select options as the program expands across the network in early 2027.
Why It Matters
- Delta’s flagship premium product is a key differentiator in international travel, and the airline’s emphasis on expanded choice and consistent dining execution indicates an attempt to reduce friction in the premium experience.
- By pushing pre-ordering closer to departure and offering options to prioritize sleep, Delta is likely responding to passenger demand for flexibility rather than a fixed, one-size-fits-all meal flow.
- Changes to the wine program and the addition of non-alcoholic mocktail options reflect how airlines are managing both quality control and broader beverage preferences in premium cabins.
