Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll and Eduardo Rodriguez named National League All-Stars

The Arizona Diamondbacks will have a two-man presence on the National League roster for the 2026 All-Star Game, with outfielder Corbin Carroll and left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez both selected to represent their club at the July 14 game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. MLB announced the selections on July 5, with Carroll chosen through player voting and Rodriguez selected by Major League Baseball through the fan and player voting process.

For Carroll, the honor is his third All-Star selection in just his fourth full season in the majors. The franchise has leaned heavily on his impact in the lineup and around the field, and his All-Star résumé already includes a 2023 start, when he was elected by fans and also earned the National League Rookie of the Year award that season. In last year’s All-Star Game, he was selected by the players and appeared in a reserve role, homering in that outing, according to the MLB release.

The path to this year’s nomination has included an early-season reset. MLB reported that, just prior to the first full squad workout of spring training, Carroll broke his right hamate bone and underwent surgery to remove it. Despite missing most of the spring and the common concern that early recovery can affect power, Carroll has returned without the slowdown that often follows such an injury, the release said.

Eduardo Rodriguez’s first All-Star selection arrives in the later stages of a career that has now reached its 11th major league season. MLB described his selection as part of a broader turnaround, framing it as a renaissance of sorts after years of alternating roles and results. The left-hander’s age, 33, also makes the selection notable for what it represents: an established veteran who is again viewed as one of the league’s top options among pitchers this summer.

Together, Carroll and Rodriguez give Arizona representation at two distinct points of the roster, one anchored in everyday position play and one in rotation innings. That balance matters for the Diamondbacks, who have increasingly treated the All-Star break as a checkpoint for roster identity, particularly as clubs evaluate which pieces can carry momentum into the second half.

As the July 14 All-Star date approaches, the primary story will be whether Carroll’s post-surgery form continues to translate into the same kind of impact that made him a recurring election target. For Rodriguez, the focus will be on how his profile plays on the biggest stage, especially given that this is his first trip to the Midsummer Classic.
