Eagles add Blue, Evan Neal and Orji to practice squad, waiving TE E.J. Jenkins
Philadelphia filled three practice-squad spots on Thursday, bringing back RB Jaydon Blue and adding G Evan Neal and LB Anfernee Orji, while waiving tight end E.J. Jenkins from the active roster.
The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Thursday that they signed RB Jaydon Blue, G Evan Neal, and LB Anfernee Orji to the practice squad.
Blue returns to the practice squad after being released from the active roster earlier in the week. The running back originally joined the Eagles’ practice squad before the start of the season and later earned an active-roster promotion ahead of Week 6.
Evan Neal joins Philadelphia after being released as part of New York’s final roster cuts earlier this season. The former seventh overall pick out of Alabama previously spent time on the Raiders’ practice squad before being released earlier this week, and he began his career as a tackle before converting to guard during the 2025 offseason.
Anfernee Orji was added to the practice squad after a brief earlier stint with the team. He initially signed with Philadelphia earlier this month but was released five days later; he spent 2023 with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted rookie and then appeared in 16 games for New Orleans in 2024.
Why It Matters
- The moves add depth along the offensive line and in the defensive backer group while keeping multiple developing players in Philadelphia’s weekly rotation.
- Re-signing Blue suggests the Eagles still view him as an option to develop further within their running-back corps after an active-roster opportunity.
- Adding Evan Neal continues a theme of using known NFL-caliber linemen on a developmental timeline, particularly after his tackle-to-guard conversion earlier in his pro career.
- Waiving E.J. Jenkins from the active roster changes the immediate tight end mix and may indicate the Eagles wanted to shift his path back toward a practice-squad role.
