Jordan Mailata and the Eagles Cheerleaders visited HopePHL on Oct. 20 to announce the newest Eagles A Fan of Change grant, part of the team’s broader social justice fundraising effort.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ A Fan of Change initiative delivered a $55,000 grant to HopePHL during a visit to West Philadelphia on Tuesday, Oct. 20, with offensive tackle Jordan Mailata and the Eagles Cheerleaders taking part in the announcement.
HopePHL, a human services organization focused on children, youth, families and communities, was created through the integration of People’s Emergency Center and Youth Service, Inc. The group’s mission includes housing, advocacy, and trauma-responsive social services designed around equity, resilience, autonomy and well-being.
The Eagles said the grant was coordinated with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and its Center for Violence Prevention, with the team describing the outreach visit as both a surprise and an opportunity for HopePHL to increase visibility.
During the visit, Mailata joined HopePHL volunteers as staff and residents worked on resume support activities tied to job readiness programs offered by the organization. The team also highlighted that HopePHL’s Maynes Family Digital Learning Lab hosts after-school programs.
Eagles officials noted that they have donated more than $2.6 million to local causes since 2018 through the Eagles Social Justice Fund, framing the HopePHL grant as part of the organization’s effort to address ongoing reduced-funding pressures.
