Falcons release safety Jammie Robinson days after promoting him to the active roster
Atlanta added Robinson to the 53-man roster last weekend when an injury opened a spot. A handful of days later, the Falcons released him.
The Atlanta Falcons released safety Jammie Robinson days after signing him to the active roster, the team announced Monday.
Robinson had been promoted last Saturday, filling an open spot on the active roster created by the placement of linebacker Yasir Abdullah on injured reserve ahead of the Falcons’ Week 5 prime-time game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Earlier this season, Robinson began on the Falcons’ practice squad. He was one of Atlanta’s standard practice squad elevations on Monday night versus the New Orleans Saints in Week 4.
Through Weeks 4-5, Robinson handled 44 special teams snaps, according to the Falcons. He played in six games for Atlanta last season after joining the practice squad in November, and he has appeared in 27 career games after entering the league as a fifth-round pick in 2023.
Robinson previously spent two seasons with the Carolina Panthers before joining the Falcons.
Why It Matters
- The move shows how quickly Atlanta is turning over depth at safety and special teams during the regular season.
- With an injured reserve placement already creating one active-roster slot, the Falcons’ next transaction may further indicate how they’re planning for Week-to-Week roster stability.
- Robinson’s short active-roster window suggests the Falcons may be shifting priorities between active defensive roles and special teams usage.
