The Fayette County Clerk’s Office expects the first reported returns to come from absentee ballots, with results from early voting and Election Day voting coming later.
Fayette County Clerk Susan Lamb said her office expects to have the first batch of Election Day results relatively quickly, starting with absentee ballots. Speaking in advance of the voting day, Lamb indicated that the sequencing of returns will be driven by how ballots are received and processed.
Lamb said absentee ballots will provide the earliest results that residents can expect to see. Under that approach, the first official updates will reflect the ballots that come through the absentee process first and can be tabulated before later voting categories.
The clerk’s comments also clarified that early voting and ballots cast on Election Day will be reported after the initial absentee-ballot batch. That means residents looking for a full picture of the vote may need to wait longer for results that include all voting methods.
The Fayette County Clerk’s Office is responsible for administering the county’s elections and coordinating ballot processing and reporting. Lamb’s statement on timing is intended to set expectations for how quickly partial results will be released as each category of ballots is processed.
Election results typically draw public attention immediately, including from voters tracking their communities, candidates monitoring reported returns, and local media seeking updates. Lamb’s outlined schedule indicates that those updates may arrive in stages rather than all at once.
For voters, the order of reporting can also affect how quickly individual races become visible in official totals. If absentee-ballot tabulations are released first, early reporting may not fully reflect votes cast through other channels until those ballots are processed and included.
The clerk’s office did not indicate in the report how long each stage would take, but Lamb’s remarks established that the first public results on Election Day will come from absentee ballots, while early voting and Election Day voting totals will follow.
Lamb said the office hopes to provide results promptly as processing progresses. The next updates for Fayette County voters are expected to arrive after absentee-ballot figures are released, followed by additional reporting as early voting and Election Day ballots are counted and tabulated.
