Gary Lineker and Amelia Dimoldenberg set for talks at Edinburgh TV Festival as lineup expands

The Edinburgh TV Festival announced that sports broadcaster Gary Lineker and creator Amelia Dimoldenberg will appear on the same day of the event’s 2026 programme, with additional sessions also scheduled including the annual MacTaggart lecture.

The Edinburgh TV Festival has unveiled two of its highest-profile speakers for next month’s event: Gary Lineker and Amelia Dimoldenberg. Deadline reported on July 3 that Lineker, a former Match of the Day host, will speak on the first day of the festival, appearing in conversation with Edinburgh TV Festival chair Adam Hawkins.

Deadline said Lineker is currently in New York presenting a daily Netflix World Cup special as the festival gets underway. It also reported that he will discuss ambitions for his Goalhanger Entertainment, an independent production company, while reflecting on a recent period in his career that included leaving the BBC amid controversy.

On the same day, Amelia Dimoldenberg will take part in a separate appearance, also announced by Deadline as part of the festival’s early lineup. Deadline described her as one of the UK’s best-known creator-interviewers and said her session will focus on her craft, including “the editorial architecture of an awkward beat,” along with how she has refined her approach over the past decade.

A second report from Televisual provided additional details on the institutional context and business themes expected in the sessions. Televisual said Lineker will sit down with Adam Hawkins to reflect on the success of Goalhanger, which he co-founded in 2018, and to discuss the company’s recent growth and plans for new formats, including a first live event titled The Rest is Fest.

Televisual also reported that Goalhanger’s audience reach has expanded significantly, saying shows produced by the company were streamed more than 750 million times in the prior year. It added that the company is nearing the launch of The Rest is Fest and referenced a landmark investment deal with Chernin Group, along with a new accelerator initiative that will support six content creators with grants of up to 10,000 pounds each to develop production and experiment with short-form storytelling.

For Dimoldenberg, Televisual reported that she will be in conversation with international correspondent for The Ankler, Manori Ravindran. It said Dimoldenberg’s work includes Chicken Shop Date and that it was commissioned under her own production company, Dimz, Inc, which Televisual also said is behind her series Passenger Princess.

The Edinburgh TV Festival is scheduled to continue adding to its lineup, with further session announcements expected, Deadline said. Deadline also noted that the 2026 festival will be the last held in Edinburgh before the event relocates to Manchester.

Finally, Deadline said the annual MacTaggart lecture will be delivered by Pedro Pina, YouTube EMEA boss, underscoring the festival’s focus on both traditional broadcasters and major streaming platforms. With Lineker and Dimoldenberg appearing on the first day, organizers are positioning the opening of the programme around mainstream media reach and creator-led production as they expand beyond the event’s core television audience.
