GE Aerospace Wins Marine Gas Turbine Role for India’s Next Generation Missile Vessel
The LM2500 engine family will power six NGMVs being built by Cochin Shipyard, with assembly and testing carried out by HAL under a broader local-support effort.
GE Aerospace said it has been chosen to provide LM2500 marine gas turbine engine kits for India’s Next Generation Missile Vessels (NGMVs), a new class of high-speed warships being built by Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi. Under the arrangement, GE Aerospace will deliver six LM2500 marine gas turbine engine kits for assembly and test by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bangalore. In addition to the engine kits, GE said it will supply its composite base and enclosure and a full complement of gas turbine auxiliary systems, which are the shipboard components that support starting, fuel handling, lubrication, and related functions.
