Arizona’s shortstop won his first Rawlings Gold Glove by leading shortstops in defensive production, including 16 Outs Above Average, according to MLB’s award release.
Geraldo Perdomo is the 2026 Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner at shortstop in the National League, and he becomes the second shortstop in Arizona Diamondbacks history to capture the honor.
MLB says Perdomo led all National League shortstops by putting up 21st in innings at the position and by posting 16 Outs Above Average, finishing in the 98th percentile at shortstop defensively to earn his first career Gold Glove.
The Gold Glove Award, now in its 70th year since first being introduced in 1957, recognizes the top defensive player at each position in each league. Voting is split with MLB managers and coaches providing 75% of the vote and the sabermetrics community providing the remaining 25%.
The Diamondbacks have had other Gold Glove winners at shortstop. MLB’s release notes Nick Ahmed as Arizona’s prior shortstop winner at the position.
