Google expands AI Professional Certificate curriculum with “vibe coding” aimed at non-technical builders

Google is broadening its AI education push by adding a new “vibe coding” course to the Google AI Professional Certificate, a program it says has become the most popular generative AI certificate in history on Coursera.
The company’s blog post, published Aug. 11, frames vibe coding as a way to build applications by describing what you want in everyday language, while AI handles the underlying code. Google says learners can plan, test, debug, and deploy practical tools without prior technical experience.

It singled out Verizon, saying it offers the Google AI Professional Certificate to help its workforce build what Verizon calls “AI fluency.” In the release, Verizon executive Donna Epps, Chief Responsible Business Officer, said the training has been a core priority and is being offered to Verizon small business customers, users of Verizon Small Business Digital Ready, current management employees, and former employees through a reskilling and career transition fund. Epps also said the addition of vibe coding resources will enhance Verizon’s impact.
The “vibe coding” concept fits into a larger push across the industry to make app building less dependent on traditional programming skills.
