Google unveils Pixel 11 lineup and first Pixel Tag, pairing new devices with proactive Gemini features

Google used its Made by Google 2026 event to refresh its Pixel device lineup with a consistent theme: turn everyday phone, watch, and audio moments into more proactive help, rather than waiting for users to ask. The announcements centered on a Pixel 11 series of phones, a new Pixel foldable called Pixel 11 Pro Fold, an updated Pixel Watch, and new hardware for tracking valuables and improving day-to-day audio experiences.

In its event preview, Google framed the Pixel portfolio as purpose-built for throughout-the-day productivity, connecting the hardware stack with software features across the company’s ecosystem. The company said it is “leveraging our full vertical tech stack” to make the experience more personal, proactive, and productive, with a stated goal of helping people navigate their lives and spend more time on what they care about.

The headline device update was the Pixel 11 series. Google said the phones are its latest “most personal” Pixel yet and that the lineup emphasizes Gemini Intelligence, alongside what it called its biggest camera upgrades in years. While Google’s post did not provide specifications, it positioned the phones as the core of the new wave of devices announced at the event.

On the foldable front, Google introduced the Pixel 11 Pro Fold as “Google’s most sophisticated foldable,” highlighting a thinner and lighter design, a new main camera, and enhanced intelligence tools. Google also directly connected the form factor to its broader strategy, describing the phone’s capabilities in terms of intelligence features that help users handle tasks and stay oriented during the day.

Google also announced Pixel Watch 5. The company said the watch offers proactive alerts, low-latency Gemini AI features, and health tracking intended to keep users connected. It added a specific GPS-focused claim, saying the watch provides “our most accurate GPS route tracking yet” to help users retrace their runs, hikes, and bike rides.

Several watch features were described in health and safety terms. Google highlighted “Breathing Emergency Detection,” which the company said calls emergency services when someone stops breathing, describing it as a potential life-saving care pathway. In addition, Google said Pixel and Fitbit are combining data to track subtle changes in the body, presenting the feature as an “era of proactive care” on the wrist.

For people who want to keep track of belongings, Google’s hardware update included “Google Pixel Tag,” which Google described as a Bluetooth-based tracker for keys, wallets, and luggage. Google said Pixel Tag can locate items using Bluetooth Channel Sounding and a Find Hub, and it pointed readers to check specifications, pricing, and compatibility.

Audio updates arrived alongside the tracker and phones. Google said it is launching a new color and upgraded features for Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a as part of the event. Google’s post did not outline the exact technical changes to noise control, battery life, or codecs, but it did frame the update as a continuation of the company’s ongoing refinement of its earbud lineup.

Google’s event wrap also tied the hardware to Gemini across devices. The company said it is connecting users’ favorite services directly to Gemini to help plan trips, manage projects, and tackle daily to-do lists. It positioned this as a way to reduce the number of steps between asking and getting work done, extending the proactive experience from phones and watches into the broader assistant layer.
