Clinton’s remarks, reported Tuesday, revisit her earlier support for President Joe Biden ahead of the 2024 election and come as Biden has continued to lead the Democratic ticket into a second term.
Former 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said President Joe Biden’s decision to seek re-election in 2024 was a “terrible mistake,” according to a report published Tuesday by Zero Hedge. The report describes Clinton as having backed Biden’s bid twice, then later expressing dissatisfaction with his decision to run again.
The account states that Clinton had repeatedly praised Biden’s 2024 campaign before shifting to a more critical position. It further reports that Clinton attributed her criticism to Biden’s choice to seek a second term, characterizing it as harmful to Biden personally, and, by extension, to his political and governing choices.
Clinton’s comments were reported without publication of a full transcript or an identified primary venue in the Zero Hedge write-up. The report instead frames the matter as Clinton appearing to express “buyer’s remorse” following the 2024 election cycle, with Clinton reportedly questioning Biden’s re-election decision rather than directly addressing specific legislative or administrative outcomes.
Clinton’s earlier endorsements of Biden, as characterized by the report, placed her among prominent Democrats who publicly supported Biden during the period when Democrats were seeking to retain the White House after the 2020 election. In 2024, the endorsement cycle was shaped by party efforts to consolidate fundraising, messaging, and voter mobilization behind a single nominee.
In the current reporting, the practical stakes are primarily political and institutional, centered on how high-profile former candidates influence public debate about sitting administrations. Clinton’s remarks, if delivered in a public format, could also affect how Democratic Party figures discuss the administration’s legitimacy and tactical choices, particularly where endorsement networks overlap with donors and state party leadership.
The report provides limited detail about where Clinton made the statement, when it was made, and whether her characterization was a direct quote or paraphrase. The specific claim that Clinton endorsed Biden twice also remains unverified in the materials available here beyond the Zero Hedge account.
For now, the key question is documentation: whether Clinton issued a statement on a named platform, in an interview, or in another identifiable setting that can be cross-checked against primary records. Without those specifics, it remains unclear how broadly her remarks were disseminated and whether additional reporting from other outlets includes the same timeline and wording.
