A recent basket update for the iShares A.I. Innovation ETF (BAI) showed Amazon among the largest purchases on Nov. 2, alongside buys of Entegris, while the fund sold shares of Lattice Semiconductor.
A trading update tied to the iShares A.I. Innovation ETF (BAI) showed Amazon among the biggest additions in the fund’s Nov. 2 activity, according to the latest market data compiled by Yahoo Finance. In that snapshot, the ETF bought $17.9 million of Amazon shares, a move that placed the retailer and cloud provider at the top of the fund’s listed purchases that day.
Alongside Amazon, the ETF also added to Entegris, a supplier of materials and components used in semiconductor manufacturing. The purchase was reported at $16.7 million. Those buys were partially offset by a sizable sale of another semiconductor name in the same update, with BAI trimming Lattice Semiconductor for $36.7 million.
Taken together, the reported buy and sell figures implied net sales of $49.0 million for the period referenced in the Yahoo Finance report. The same update framed the activity as a point-in-time allocation shift rather than a broader commentary on the underlying companies’ fundamentals.
BAI is an exchange-traded fund focused on companies associated with artificial intelligence. ETFs in this category typically hold a diversified set of stocks tied to the AI hardware and supply chain, including chips, chipmaking equipment and materials, and infrastructure providers. Because the fund is rules- or index-driven and rebalanced as part of its methodology, individual trades can reflect periodic portfolio mechanics as much as new conviction.
For Amazon, the purchase is notable in the context of how investors often connect AI growth to cloud computing demand. Amazon’s primary route to that exposure is its AWS business, which provides the computing, storage, and data services that developers and enterprises use to build and run AI applications. Still, the ETF transaction itself does not disclose why Amazon was selected or whether it was due to index weight changes, rebalancing schedules, or other methodology triggers.
For Entegris and Lattice, the reported activity fits with the broader way AI is affecting semiconductor demand. Entegris supplies key process materials and components used by chipmakers, while Lattice Semiconductor is known for programmable logic products used in a range of systems. In AI-focused portfolios, these names can gain or lose exposure as investors and index methodologies reweight holdings across the supply chain.
It is also important to note what is not provided in the Yahoo Finance update. The report does not explain the ETF’s full holdings, whether Amazon’s purchase changed the fund’s overall weight meaningfully, or what broader basket adjustments occurred on Nov. 2 beyond the specific companies listed. The figures cited are dollar amounts for reported buy and sell activity, not an attribution of performance impact or expected future returns.
Going forward, investors may watch for additional transparency on whether BAI’s subsequent rebalances continue to tilt toward cloud and semiconductor enablers, or whether the fund’s activity rotates as the AI theme broadens or narrows. Any follow-on filings, index methodology updates, or later tranche disclosures that clarify the drivers of these trades could help distinguish routine rebalancing from a sharper change in positioning.
