Jacksonville listed Tuten and pass-rusher Travon Walker as questionable for Week 9 after a foot/ankle issue kept Tuten out of practice. Jaguars coach Liam Coen said Tuten’s game status is “probably” headed to a true game-time decision.
The Jaguars will find out at the last minute whether running back Bhayshul Tuten can go Thursday against the Ravens. Jacksonville’s final practice report before the game listed Tuten as questionable with a foot/ankle injury, and head coach Liam Coen indicated the decision likely will not be made until kickoff.
Coen said Tuten felt better after a personal update earlier in the day and had been missing practice for a third consecutive day Wednesday. In the same update, the Jaguars also carried defensive end Travon Walker as questionable.
Jacksonville enters the short week with a practice-week mindset, according to Coen, who said the team’s preparation is expedited after a weekend game and that Thursday’s contest will be shaped by mental and physical toughness because “everybody’s nicked up.”
Injury-report context around Tuten: safety Antonio Johnson was listed on Wednesday’s report without a game status, which the Jaguars framed as an expectation that he would be available after missing last Sunday’s 42-7 win over the Colts with an ankle injury.
The Jaguars also confirmed they have season-ending injuries on the books, placing nose tackle DaVon Hamilton (quadriceps) and safety Eric Murray (elbow) on injured reserve after they were hurt against Indianapolis.
Behind Tuten, Jacksonville’s backfield production this season has come from other options including Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Ameer Abdullah, while the team also has undrafted rookie J’Mari Taylor on the practice squad.
