Jacksonville jumped ahead 28-0 by halftime, then coasted after two turnovers and a pick-six to secure a 42-7 win at EverBank Stadium as the Colts dropped to 2-6.
The central outcome was a Jaguars blowout over the Colts in Week 8, 42-7 at EverBank Stadium, a result that dropped Indianapolis to 2-6 on the season.
Jacksonville built separation early. The Jaguars scored on a 98-yard opening drive, then added a pair of touchdowns from Trevor Lawrence to Brian Thomas Jr. and Nate Boerkircher before running back Bhayshul Tuten capped the first half with another score. By the time the teams reached halftime, Jacksonville led 28-0.
The Colts’ first 30 minutes included at least one defensive spark, as Jaylahn Tuimoloau forced a strip-sack of Lawrence. But Jacksonville turned that into points near the end of the half, when a Daniel Jones pass was picked off by safety Rayuan Lane III for a 92-yard return, just before halftime.
Indianapolis struggled to move the ball in the opening two quarters, averaging 3.4 yards per play and committing two turnovers. One of those miscues came on an errant pitch from Jonathan Taylor to Josh Downs on a gadget play.
After halftime, the Colts did find scoring. Chris Rodriguez Jr. ran for a 28-yard touchdown, and Jones later threw a six-yard touchdown to a wide-open Downs with under four minutes left in the third quarter.
Jacksonville answered again late in the game, with Tuten taking a screen pass 25 yards for a touchdown to end the third. Jones threw his second interception early in the third, and Jacksonville used the score to involve backup quarterbacks, with Quinn Ewers playing the final 13:21.
As for what is next on the Colts’ schedule geography, the team will not return to Jacksonville until 2028. The Colts’ home site, EverBank Stadium, is set to close for renovations, with Jacksonville planning home games next season in Orlando and London, according to the team recap.
