New York elevated tackle Blake Freeland to the active roster, moved veteran OL Max Mitchell to reserve/injured, and released CB Tre Brown from IR ahead of the next phase of the season.
The New York Jets have signed OT Blake Freeland to the active roster, according to the team. At the same time, the club placed OL Max Mitchell on injured reserve (reserve/injured).
The transaction also included a personnel reset on the defensive side, with the Jets releasing CB Tre Brown from IR.
Freeland (6-7, 302) most recently spent time on the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad after being waived by the Indianapolis Colts on Aug. 31. The Jets also noted that Freeland played 144 offensive snaps during the Colts’ three preseason games.
The team’s background notes for Freeland include a BYU college career and an Indianapolis selection in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, when he made nine starts as a rookie while appearing in 15 total games. In 2024, he appeared in eight games and recorded 36 special-teams snaps and 23 offensive snaps, and the Jets said he missed the entire 2025 season with a right-leg fracture.
Mitchell (6-6, 307) is being moved to reserve/injured after sustaining a head injury in practice prior to Week 7 and missing the past two games, per the team. Through the first six weeks of the season, the Jets said he played 22 special-teams snaps.
For Brown (5-10, 186), the Jets reported that he was placed on the reserve/injured list on Aug. 30. The team also said Brown played 96 defensive snaps and 15 on special teams in the preseason, and that he appeared in 10 games in 2025, splitting time with the Los Angeles Rams and Jets while contributing primarily on special teams.
