Kerry Kennedy says Robert F. Kennedy Jr. once frightened children at a birthday party with a snake in the yard

New reporting has resurfaced a childhood anecdote involving Robert F. Kennedy Jr. after his sister, Kerry Kennedy, described an incident she said occurred when he was a child at a family birthday party, according to an account published by the New York Post on June 16, 2026.

In the New York Post’s report, Kennedy described an episode in which she said her brother came “charging” into a garden area after hearing about a snake near the event, and that he reportedly behaved in a way she characterized as frightening to children. The article also depicts Kennedy’s claim that a snake was “chomping” at what she described as her brother’s hand.

The report frames Kennedy’s recollection as part of her broader discussion of their family history and Kennedy’s own past behavior, rather than as a matter supported by court records, sworn testimony, or documented investigations. No official findings, disciplinary actions, or legal filings about the alleged incident were included in the published account.

Because the narrative is presented as a personal claim by Kennedy and not as an established matter of record, key details such as the date of the event, the location, the presence of witnesses beyond family, and any corroboration are not independently confirmed in the New York Post report.

As the episode circulates in political media, it also highlights the challenge of verifying accounts of past conduct that are not tied to contemporaneous reporting or legal documentation. Any subsequent response from Kennedy or RFK Jr. was not described in the New York Post report referenced here.
