THE APEX TIMES
In a tense night at T-Mobile Park, Baltimore’s starter Kyle Bradish went 7 2/3 innings and recorded 12 strikeouts as the Orioles held off Seattle for a 5-3 victory.
SEATTLE. Kyle Bradish did not just control the Mariners, he did it in a way that stretched his outing to a rare length for the Orioles this season. In a 5-3 win at T-Mobile Park, the right-hander went 7 2/3 innings and struck out 12, delivering what the team described as his longest start of the year.
The strikeout total stood out even before the deeper endurance was factored in. Bradish’s 12 punchouts matched the strikeout number associated with John Means’ 2021 no-hitter, a comparison that underscored how efficiently Bradish worked once he found the strike zone and the timing of Seattle’s hitters.
Baltimore’s ability to turn that individual performance into a close, road victory was the deciding theme of the game. Bradish’s length mattered because it kept the Orioles’ bullpen from being forced into a full-scale response, and it allowed the team to manage the margins as the matchup tightened.
Bradish’s 7 2/3 innings also carried the implied challenge of pitching in Seattle, where the environment can quickly change the feel of a game. The Orioles’ release characterized him as being in control for much of the evening, suggesting that his command and sequencing held up not just through the early innings but into the late part of the start.
The 5-3 final score meant Baltimore still had to finish the job against a lineup capable of making late contact and turning momentum with one or two timely at-bats. Even with Bradish leaving the game after 7 2/3, the framework he created, through strikeouts and sustained innings, gave the Orioles a workable path to the finish.
For the Orioles, this was more than a solid start on a single night. A performance like this can influence how a rotation plans its workload, and it can also raise expectations for the kind of start that can stabilize the staff when games become more competitive inning to inning.
What to watch next is whether Bradish can turn this into a consistent stretch that repeats the combination of deep innings and high strikeout output, and how Baltimore’s rotation and bullpen usage responds in the games that follow. If Bradish continues to find innings like this, it gives the Orioles another reliable lever as their season moves forward.
