Ahead of the 14th annual event at Johnsonville Tailgate Village, Packers-connected women’s group Christy Policy’s Ladies of Lambeau assembled “Welcome Baby Kits” aimed at easing the stress of a child’s first month.
The Ladies of Lambeau, a women’s community group associated with the Green Bay Packers, held its 14th annual gathering Tuesday, Oct. 27, assembling 200 “Welcome Baby Kits” for families facing financial hardship as they welcome newborns.
Led by Christy Policy, wife of Packers President, CEO and Chairman of the Board Ed Policy, the event focused on the “fourth trimester,” a period when postpartum needs can be especially acute for families without steady resources.
Volunteers at Johnsonville Tailgate Village packed tote bags with essential newborn supplies for the first four weeks, including diapers, wipes, rash cream, bottles, pacifiers, bibs, thermometers, grooming kits, and swaddle blankets, plus onesies volunteers painted and personalized notes to new mothers.
Policy said the initiative is designed to do more than provide items, pointing to the broader goal of strengthening families and improving long-term opportunities for children when basic needs are met.
To build the kits around local gaps in support, Ladies of Lambeau partnered with community organizations including Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin’s Welcome Baby program, CASA of Brown County, and VIDA, with additional contributions that included informational materials and nutrition-related products.
The evening also featured the “Ladies of Lambeau Rub-a-Dub Baby Drive,” inviting members of the Packers organization to donate baby wash and lotion to be distributed with the kits.
