Lamar Jackson ruled out after thumb injury on first play back vs. Bills

Lamar Jackson’s return for the Baltimore Ravens lasted one play. On the first pass attempt after coming back, he suffered a right-thumb injury during contact with Bills pass rusher Gregory Rousseau.

Jackson went straight to the locker room after the play. The Ravens later ruled him out for the remainder of the game in the first quarter.

With Jackson sidelined, Tyler Huntley took over at quarterback. Baltimore’s opening offensive series in Buffalo ended quickly with a three-and-out.

Jackson had missed the previous three games with an ankle injury. His return had followed back-to-back losses by the Ravens against AFC North opponents, a context that made the injury swing more immediate.
