London man arrested on Fayette County warrants faces rape, sodomy and burglary charges

A Laurel County sheriff’s deputy arrested a London man Monday on multiple Fayette County warrants, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office as reported by LEX 18. The arrest followed action on outstanding warrants that included serious felony allegations, as well as a separate failure-to-appear warrant tied to a child-support case.

LEX 18 reported that 40-year-old Marcus Donald Easley was taken into custody at around 5:18 p.m. Monday off Waterworks Road. Investigators said the arrest stemmed from active Fayette County warrants issued for charges pending in Fayette County District Court.

The Fayette County District Court complaint warrant cited allegations that Easley faced charges involving rape and sodomy, along with burglary, according to LEX 18’s account of the warrant information. Under Kentucky law, the filing of charges and the issuance of warrants do not establish guilt, and criminal allegations are determined through the court process.

In addition to the Fayette County complaint warrant, LEX 18 reported that Easley was also charged on a separate Fayette County District Court bench warrant for failure to appear in court on a child support matter. Bench warrants are typically issued when a person does not appear as required, and they can trigger arrest once law enforcement locates the subject.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office did not indicate in the report how the warrant service was coordinated beyond identifying Easley and the time and location of the arrest, but the report said the deputy executed the warrants after determining they were active.
