Lucia Szabová’s UFC arrival comes with a clear challenge, she is scheduled to fight Tainara Lisboa in a flyweight matchup at UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs Nolan, an event labeled by the UFC as taking place at Meta APEX in Las Vegas on October 31, 2026.

The central question for Szabová’s UFC debut is whether her rapid rise in Europe translates to the sport’s biggest stage. In her interview, the 28-year-old framed the opportunity as both a milestone and a pressure test she believes she is ready for, pointing to the experience of performing in large, high-stakes arenas before.

Szabová’s path to the Octagon was shaped by a transition through multiple disciplines. She said she began with judo as a youth, moved to Muay Thai as a teenager, and eventually built into MMA, starting her MMA career about eight years ago and emphasizing that the ground game and finishing ability became the spark for her.

Her claim to championship momentum rests on two title runs in the European circuit. According to UFC reporting, Szabová first won a bantamweight title in August 2025 by finishing Cecilie Bolander in the first round, then returned in April 2026 and, after cutting an additional 10 pounds, TKO’d Leidiane Fernandes in the third round to add a flyweight belt.

also attributed the UFC opportunity to her win over former UFC veteran Lucie Pudilova. Szabová described receiving the UFC chance after that fight, and credited her coach, Renato Subotić, for helping make the move happen.

For her UFC weight class, Szabová said she plans to compete at 125 pounds, describing flyweight as the division where her physical traits align best. She described herself as tall and big for the weight class, and said she’s faster there, which she believes gives her a meaningful advantage.

Why It Matters

Szabová becomes a new name to watch in the UFC’s 125-pound division, stepping in with championship experience from Europe rather than arriving as a raw newcomer.
Her two-division title history, including a documented move from bantamweight to flyweight, sets up a test of whether her finishing style carries at UFC caliber.
The matchup with Lisboa gives the UFC a clear measuring stick for Szabová’s transition, since it places her debut in a division where the athletic and technical demands are high.
The story also matters for global growth, with UFC branding highlighting Szabová as the first Slovakian female fighter in the UFC.
