Madison County to close portion of Tates Creek Road and Maple Grove Road for flood debris removal

Madison County will temporarily close a section of roadway at the intersection of Tates Creek (KY 169) and Maple Grove Roads to remove flood debris from a bridge, WKYT reported Monday.

The closure is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is set at mile point 2.0, according to the report. Officials said the work is aimed at addressing debris left by recent flooding and restoring safe passage through the area.

The intersection serves local traffic traveling between KY 169 and Maple Grove Road, and the bridge debris removal is expected to require lane reductions or a full shutdown during the work window. Residents and drivers who routinely use the crossing are being directed to plan alternate routes during the hours of the closure.

WKYT’s report said the shutdown is specifically tied to flood debris removal rather than routine maintenance, underscoring that the impacts of the earlier flooding still require physical work on infrastructure.

The closure timing of the morning-to-afternoon hours is designed to limit disruption while still allowing sufficient time for crews to clear the debris, secure the work zone, and complete the tasks needed to reopen the roadway.
