Meta names Ranveer Singh as first Ray-Ban Meta brand ambassador in India, adding new AI-glasses features

The partnership spotlights Meta’s growing push into consumer AI hardware, with Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 and a new “Muse” hands-free agent slated for future rollout.

Meta is leaning further into consumer-facing AI with a new brand campaign in India. In a post on its Newsroom, the company said actor Ranveer Singh will serve as the first brand ambassador in India for Ray-Ban and Ray-Ban Meta, Meta’s AI-enabled eyewear line.

Meta said Singh has a long-standing relationship with the company and has collaborated on multiple projects over the years. The company framed the ambassador move as a “new chapter” for Ray-Ban in India, tying the brand’s legacy in eyewear to Meta’s pitch for AI glasses designed to help people capture and interact with the world without repeatedly reaching for a phone.

Singh’s quote emphasized individuality and instinct in style, while also highlighting the practical appeal of Ray-Ban Meta. He described the partnership as blending iconic Ray-Ban design with Meta’s vision of building AI glasses “for everyone,” and said he is excited to be part of the story in India.

At the center of Meta’s India messaging is Ray-Ban Meta, positioned as everyday glasses that combine audio, camera, and on-device interaction. Meta said Ray-Ban Meta glasses are designed for tasks such as listening to music and podcasts, making hands-free calls, and getting quick access to Meta AI, with software updates intended to add new features over time.

Meta also detailed Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3), calling it the next generation of what it described as the world’s best-selling AI glasses. The company said Gen 3 aims to make the hardware more comfortable and longer-lasting than the prior generation, including a slimmer design, improved battery life, and a customizable action button for instant access to Meta AI.

Among the specific technical upgrades Meta highlighted for Gen 3: up to nine hours of battery life, described as about an hour more than Gen 2; professional-adjustable temple tips for a better fit; and a new 6-microphone array designed to reduce more than 90% of background noise for clearer calls and voice commands, including in windy or crowded settings. Meta also said the glasses include a 12 MP camera with 3K Ultra HD video recording, plus “dynamic photos” that let users choose the best frame after capture. Meta noted an LED light intended to make people nearby aware when someone is taking photos or video.

Meta said Gen 3 offers choice through multiple designs and configurations, listing 27 color and lens combinations across three frame styles: Aviator, Zena (a new bold cat-eye frame), and Wayfarer. The company added that it is also releasing a limited-edition Aviator marking the 90th anniversary of the Ray-Ban Aviator, with a vintage-inspired colorway.

In addition to Gen 3, Meta announced the Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses, described as a lighter-weight option that it says packs “the power of earbuds and AI” into slimmer frames. Meta said the Audio model weighs 43 grams and supports hands-free calling and an AI assistant, with up to 12 hours of use on a single charge and up to an additional 48 hours from a charging case. Separately, Meta said the “Muse” feature will be brought to its AI glasses in the coming months, activated by saying the agent’s name, and that Muse can interpret what the wearer is looking at to help with tasks like asking about products or lists without requiring a detailed description.

Meta said Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 is available in India and, as well as through consumer electronics and major optical and eyewear retailers. It provided a starting price of INR 44,300. The company also said regular software updates, a growing ecosystem of apps, and additional AI features are intended to keep improving the experience after purchase.

What Meta did not disclose in the announcement was any sales target, device shipment volume, or financial impact from the India ambassador program. It also did not give specific timelines or regional scope for features like Muse beyond saying they are coming in the coming months. For now, the main announcement is that Meta is pairing celebrity-led brand positioning with incremental hardware and software additions to support its AI-glasses push in a large consumer market.

Why It Matters

  • The ambassador move shows Meta is treating AI eyewear as a consumer brand story, not only a technology product.
  • Gen 3’s focus on battery life, noise reduction, and a configurable action button targets practical day-to-day friction points for voice and calling.
  • By previewing Muse as a hands-free agent that can act on visual context, Meta is indicating a shift toward more autonomous AI assistance in wearable form factors.
  • Pricing and distribution details in India suggest Meta is aiming to scale beyond early adopters and into broader retail channels.
