The pick is also notable for its family backdrop. Aloy’s father, Jamie Aloy, was drafted out of the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa by the San Francisco Giants in the 48th round of the 1999 MLB Draft. According to the draft profile, that generational link is part of why baseball never sat as a casual pastime in their household.

Aloy’s older brother, Wehiwa Kapahulehua, followed that same route into the pro game. The profile says Kapahulehua attended the University of Arkansas and was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles with the 31st overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, where he is described as one of the organization’s top prospects.

Before college ball, Kuhio Aloy attended Henry Perrine Baldwin High School in Wailuku, Hawai‘i. The profile notes that his brother and Aloy overlapped there during 2022, setting up a rare situation in which two siblings were on the same high school stage before both continued their baseball careers at the college level.

After graduating in 2023, Aloy “struck out on his own,” the profile says, beginning his next chapter at Brigham Young University before later landing in the University of Arkansas program that brought him to the Mets’ draft room in this class.
