The Raiders rookie running back earned an NFL Rookie of the Week nomination following a 25-carry, 83-yard performance in Week 8 against New York.
The Raiders’ rookie running back Mike Washington Jr. has been nominated for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week award following his Week 8 game against the New York Jets, the team announced.
Against New York, Washington carried the ball 25 times for 83 rushing yards. His longest run in the game was for 15 yards.
Raiders officials also noted that the 10-plus-yard runs were a high point of the outing, pointing to seven “explosive” runs (10+ yards), which were described as the most on the team this season by NFL Next Gen Stats.
Klint Kubiak, speaking on Washington’s development, credited the nomination to work on assignments and practice habits, saying it has been a process to build him to this point.
Fans were invited to vote for the Week 8 Rookie of the Week through Thursday at 8 a.m. PT, with the winner to be announced on NFL social platforms.
