THE APEX TIMES
Jared Minshew took over early in the second half, guided Arizona to a late TD to force overtime, and then threw the winning blow after a key defensive stop.
Arizona’s decision to swap quarterbacks paid off in a high-stakes finish in Dallas. The Cardinals used Jared Minshew to replace an early second-half Jacoby Brissett, and Arizona rallied from there to win 33-30 in overtime.
Minshew’s impact showed up immediately in the closing minutes. He connected with Michael Wilson on a 13-yard touchdown with six seconds remaining to tie the game, setting up a dramatic overtime after Chad Ryland’s extra point attempt sailed wide in regulation.
In overtime, the Cardinals cashed in on another reset by their defense. After a three-and-out, highlighted by a Josh Sweat sack on third down, Minshew’s unit got a 42-yard Ryland game-winning field goal to end it.
Arizona’s passing was efficient when it mattered. The team’s official recap says Minshew threw three touchdown passes without an interception.
The run game also carried Arizona in the late stages. Even with Jeremiyah Love and Bam Knight leaving with injuries, Tyler Allgeier produced 147 rushing yards on 11 carries, including a 63-yard touchdown run and a 52-yard run, plus a touchdown reception.
