With the 2026 NBA Draft nearing, two recent mock drafts place Sergio De Larrera, a Spanish wing prospect, in Cleveland at No. 29.
The Cleveland Cavaliers’ first real decision point of the 2026 NBA Draft process is their selection at No. 29, and at least two draft previews circulated this week connect that slot to Sergio De Larrera. According to Yahoo Sports’ mock draft roundup, both of its recent mock draft teams end up sending De Larrera to Cleveland as the draft moves from projection to execution.
The specific fit described in the roundup is positional. De Larrera is repeatedly framed as a wing from Spain, and mock drafters often use that combination to report a player profile meant to add two-way versatility on the perimeter. For Cleveland, that kind of prospect would align with the broader draft logic of continuing to build depth around ball-handling and frontcourt stability while adding size and defensive length at the forward spots.
Cleveland’s situation at pick No. 29 matters because late first-round selections generally require teams to balance immediate rotation usefulness with long-term upside. Wings who can contribute in multiple roles, even if not fully polished, can be especially valuable in that range because they may evolve into playoff-caliber perimeter options rather than being limited to one narrow assignment.
Still, a mock draft is not a transaction. The Yahoo roundup is best read as an indicator of what NBA personnel evaluators and media outlets are prioritizing in their own boards right now, not as a forecast of Cleveland’s guaranteed target. De Larrera landing in Cleveland would require the real draft board to fall that way, and mock drafts can vary widely around the late teens and 20s as workouts, team needs, and pre-draft adjustments reshuffle the pecking order.
If the Cavaliers do pursue De Larrera in this neighborhood, the practical question becomes what role he can play quickly as a rookie. In the playoffs, teams typically shorten the rotation and rely on players they trust in the most repeatable moments. For a Spanish wing prospect to fit that picture, he would need to show enough defensive steadiness and offensive decision-making to hold minutes, not just provide long-term potential.
What to watch next for Cleveland and De Larrera is straightforward: more team-reported draft commentary, any additional mock movement closer to the draft, and any confirmed public indicates about Cleveland’s internal needs at wing. If Cleveland’s board shifts away from De Larrera, the mock draft chatter will fade, but if it continues to track, it becomes a reasonable storyline to follow through draft night.
