Netflix releases first look at Wrath, a new Brazilian series set for July 29

Netflix has released the first images and an official poster for Wrath, a new Brazilian series premiering July 29. The announcement, posted by Netflix Newsroom in São Paulo on June 9, marks the latest push to expand locally produced drama for viewers in Brazil and Portuguese-language audiences worldwide.

Wrath stars Vinicius Neri and brings together a large ensemble cast that includes Alice Carvalho, Bianca Comparato, Cláudia Raia, Eduardo Moscovis, Fábio Lago and MC Cabelinho, as well as Babu Santana. Netflix did not provide episode count or runtime in the announcement.

The series is directed by José Henrique Fonseca, known for Good Morning, Verônica. In Wrath, Netflix describes the plot as centered on a young man who is rescued from the brink of death by an MMA (mixed martial arts) coach. After losing memory of his identity, the character is given the name Marcelo and begins building a new purpose inside the MMA world.

As Marcelo becomes more involved in fighting and the community around it, Netflix says he starts uncovering clues about his past. The storyline then shifts from personal mystery to broader stakes, drawing Marcelo into “a web of crime, secrets and rivalries” that extends far beyond the arena.

Netflix credits the series to creators Igor Verde and Gustavo Bragança. The company also names executive producers Eduardo Pop, Fernanda Laignier and José Henrique Fonseca, and describes Wrath as a co-production between Zola Filmes and Netflix, underscoring Netflix’s reliance on local production partners for Portuguese-language originals.

In a brief company overview included with the announcement, Netflix said it is one of the world’s leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in more than 190 countries. The company positions series like Wrath as part of its broader catalog strategy across genres and languages, aiming to add new titles while maintaining a pipeline of regionally specific content.

While Netflix provided key creative and cast details, it did not disclose how many episodes will be included, whether the series will arrive all at once or on a weekly schedule, or any additional marketing milestones beyond the initial images and poster.
