The NFL and TMRW Sports have introduced the Premier Flag brand for a women’s-and-men’s pro league in development, with competition and talent identification built toward flag football’s Olympic debut in Los Angeles in 2028.
The NFL and TMRW Sports have unveiled Premier Flag, the brand identity for a new professional flag football league for women and men that is currently in development and planned to launch in summer 2027.
Premier Flag is positioned as a pro tier that sits alongside the sport’s existing pathways, including the Olympics, international, collegiate, high school and youth programs. The league’s rollout is also framed around the 2028 Los Angeles Games, when flag football makes its Olympic debut.
The NFL and TMRW Sports say the league is being built to spotlight flag football’s speed and accessibility while creating a full-time career destination for elite athletes. The effort includes a broad investor group that includes all 32 NFL club owners, as well as institutional and strategic investors and current and former NFL players and women athletes.
Premier Flag also announced a talent pathway designed to feed the league. It points to the first Premier Flag London Combine at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Oct. 6, plus additional international and U.S. identification events planned for 2027, including Mexico City on Nov. 22-23.
On the presentation side, the league will stage an inaugural Premier Flag Showcase during Super Bowl LXI week in Los Angeles, described as a live event from a custom-built venue that mixes pro-level competition with storytelling about the next stage of flag football.
The announcement adds infrastructure and governance details, including that Premier Flag is working with Populous to design the league’s inaugural purpose-built stadium, and that Transwestern is leading the host-city and league-hub selection process.
