The NFL Players Association honored Carter for work through the Michael Carter II Foundation’s Maternal Health Program, including a third “Baby Shower on the Block” event of the year held Oct. 20.
The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) has named Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Michael Carter II the Week 8 Community MVP for his foundation’s off-field service focused on maternal health.
Carter’s community recognition centers on the Michael Carter II Foundation, which hosts “Baby Shower on the Block” events as part of its Maternal Health Program, with programming designed to help pregnant and postpartum families navigate healthcare and early parenthood.
For Week 8, the Eagles’ cornerback was honored after hosting the foundation’s third “Baby Shower on the Block” event of the year on Oct. 20, drawing more than 100 community members including new mothers, expectant mothers and their families.
The foundation’s events include educational panel discussions covering health, fatherhood and motherhood, along with distribution of practical supplies such as car seats and diapers.
The NFLPA said that in connection with Carter’s Community MVP selection, it donated $10,000 to the Michael Carter II Foundation, and the Week 8 award also makes him eligible for the NFLPA’s Alan Page Community Award, given to a player for commitment to community service.
